In Lord Stwartby’s article ‘Rose Ryals of James I, 1605-17’ BNJ 2001, his die study consisted of 59 examples including those in the British Museum, the National Museums of Scotland, the Ashmolean, Fitzwilliam and Hunterian Museum as well as important private collections. Only 2 examples of which, were mintmark Cinquefoil, Lockett number 2075 and Ryan number 363. Both of these examples are from the same die pair as this coin, listed by Stewartby as C/j and to which, he sequenced the mintmarks as Cinquefoil over trefoil over tower over mullet over coronet on obverse and cinquefoil over trefoil over tower on reverse.
