Obverse:
IACOBVS DEI GRA REX SCOTORVM. Crowned facing bust, large crown.
Reverse:
DNS PTECTOR MS Z LEBERATO, VILLA EDINBVRGH. Long cross with small lis in centre, 6 pointed mullet and three pellets in alternate angles.
Ragged edge otherwise about very fine for issue, toned and from an extremely rare obverse die.
It is noted that just four other examples of this obverse die have so far been traced; the Burns coin (from the Coats of Ferguslie Collection), British Museum no. 1902,0205.15, the Lord Stewartby example and one in the Hunterian museum.
