Obverse:
CNVT RECX. Crowned bust left with sceptre.
Reverse:
HVNNA ON MEALM. Voided short cross with pellet centre.
Slightly crimped, single peckmark and very minuscule perforation within the trefoil pellets after RECX, otherwise very fine and exceptionally rare.
This is suggested to be the 2nd Short Cross type penny of Malmesbury in private hands, with one other example (sharing the same obverse die) being sold through CNG (Inventory 733195 - $3,250). There is only 1 other example listed on EMC/SCBI, which is in the Copenhagen museum.
Found near Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire Jun 2023, registered on the EMC as 2023.0266.
