Obverse:
EDWARD DEI G REX ANGL D HYB Z AQT. King standing facing in a ship, sword in right hand, shield in left. Saltire before EDWARD, double satire stops
Reverse:
DOMINE NE IN FVRORE TVO ARGVAS ME. Floriated cross with lis terminals, lions between with crowns above, E in centre, all within tressure of eight arches. No fleurs in spandrels.
Weakly struck to the face otherwise good very fine and extremely rare with the omission of the fleurs in spandrels. Lawrence Group A - 2.
When sold in 2012, it was described as “only one other example known [this in the BM]”. This British Museum example was acquired in 1920 and is from the same die pair as this coin, which also has the same degree of striking weakness to the face (Museum number 1920,1016.8). We have since been able to locate one more example, which came to light in 2019.
