Obverse:
[H]ENR[I] REX. Crowned bust facing, wearing armour with mantle and sceptre in right hand.
Reverse:
[G]ODWI[NE ON EVE]. Large cross potent with small potent in each angle, small cross in centre.
Small edge furl, good fine, toned and rare. Same die pair as BM 787-8, this obverse die was also used under the moneyer Herbert at York as BM 798.
It is noted in the BM that there where two other examples from this die pair, one Ex R. C. Lockett Collection, Glendining Auction, English - Part I, 6 Jun 1955 - Lot 1188 (Part) "Godwine, D1 (787/8), fine." and one at Baldwins in 1946. There is a tentative possibility that this coin is one of those examples.
